Navan Anglers Association Rules & BYE-Laws

 

 

  • The object of the association is the preservation of Salmon and Trout Fishing on the river Boyne, Blackwater and tributaries.
 
 
  • Fishing is by Rod and Line only, using one rod at any time.  
 
  • The Salmon and Trout season is from the 1st of March until the 30th of September.  
 
  • Trout Fishing is fly only, catch and release on the River Boyne from Kilcarn down to the junction with the River Blackwater.  
 
  • All Trout under 11 inches   (from snout to fork of tail) to be returned alive to the river.  
 
  • Spinning for trout is prohibited until the 1st of June.  
 
  • Coarse fishing ,fishing with maggots/chandlers or Minnow is prohibited at all times.  
 
  • Bag limit of 2 Trout per day (The Club encourages catch and release).  
 
  • Use the stiles that are provided. Do not damage fences, meadows, crops or block riparian owner’s right of way.  
 
  • Leaving of litter especially fishing line is strictly prohibited.
 
  • Anglers must wear their club identity badges while fishing club waters.  
 
  • Visiting anglers must carry their day ticket with them while on club waters and produce it for inspection when requested.  
 
  • Anglers are reminded not to start fishing immediately below another angler and are asked to work their way down the pool.  
 
  • Anglers are to co-operate with club water keepers and fisheries board officers.  
 
  • All anglers must comply with the state angling regulations and laws. Failure to do so may result in prosecution and immediate withdrawal of permission to fish club waters.
